Hello all! I'm very sorry for the hiatus, I would give you excuses, but quite frankly, I don't think you all would want to hear them. Anywho, here are the rest of my favorite quotes from my favorite series! Enjoy!

Favorite Quotes from Harry Potter (part 1)

Hello! I have to say- I am quite brilliant! Excuse me for being arrogant, but I like to think that I came up  with quite a fun idea. How about I list some of my favorite quotes from each Harry Potter novel (my favorite book series) and then the films? I really, truly love Harry Potter and I think this would be a great way to share my favorite series with my good 'ole readers. Enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone
Dumbledore: What happened down in the dungeon between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret. So, naturally, the whole school knows.
Dumbledore: It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends.
George Weasley: I suppose she thinks you don't forget your name. But we're not stupid-we know we're called Gred and Forge.
J.K. Rowling: There are some things you can't share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.

Baby Name Tuesday: Week 3

Hey! Have you ever read a baby name book? Well, this past week, I opened up Beyond Jennifer and Jason, Madison and Montana: What to Name Your Baby Now, and it was great! Unlike traditional baby name books with the names spelled out with meanings and pronunciation keys like a dictionary, this book explored 6 areas of names- had many fun lists along the way. One of my most favorite features of this book was the history component. For example, did you know that Margaret is sometimes considered the national Scottish female name? Or that in the Massachusetts Bay Colony, 21% of girls were named Mary, 17% Elizabeth, and 15% Sarah? This book also goes into trends- why parents pick the names they do, but also which picks are perfect for a fashionista in the making, or a macho man.

Above is a list of "truly unisex" location and place names. Although I disagree with several names on this list. For one, I think Paris is definitely a girls' name, and Devon? A boys' name.

I would think this book is appropriate for girls' 11 and up. :-)

Baby Name Tuesday: Week 2

Hey! Once in a while, I check out my favorite baby name website- Nameberry. It's a really easy to use site and they have basically every baby name. But, they also have blog posts about (what else?) names- from names that mean "blond" to names from famous TV series and movies. So, I decided to learn about names from my favorite books. See if you can guess which books they are from! (If it's to tricky, you can unscramble them with the pink letters below the names.)

Katniss- Guess what? Katniss is actually a real plant! Because it's the name of the plant, I actually couldn't find a meaning of the name, but I still think it's pretty darn cool.

Sirius- This is not only the name of one of the bright glimpses of hope in a certain book series, but also the name of the brightest star in the sky. Fitting with the being the name of a star, it means "burning."

Anna- I've never met an "Anna" who was mean! And the meaning is perfectly fitting: "grace." I love this sweet, classic name. What's also cool about it is that it has many international varitations- try the Danish Ane or the Russian Anya.

Isaac- This Biblical (and totally gorgeous name) is rising in popularity and bright meaning to go with it- "laughter." Love it! Like Anna, it has many international variations: Izak (Scandinavian), Isaakios (Greek), Ysaac (Spanish) and many more.

Willa- Sweet and graceful, I absolutely love this name! Besides being the name of one my favorite female heroins, this name is quite unpopular. It has the rather odd meaning of "resolute protection."
